Background Story

Grim, austere survivors, the dralfar are the elves of the deep world, dwelling in darkness and silence far below the crust of the earth. In the distant past, they were as their alfar cousins upon the surface are – warriors sent from beyond the material realm to defend it from the predations of the Outer Darkness. The dralfar are descended from those who were captured by their Great Enemy and twisted by its corrupting touch. Stripped of their immortality and severed from the ancestral dream-mind that all alfar share, they were banished by their kin, condemned to eke out a hard and bleak existence deep beneath the earth. Among the dark estates of the dralfar is House Glarondhir, the Court of the Sunless King. Determined to regain their lost immortality, they have turned to the vilest of powers, pledging their allegiance to the elder wyrm Malphoraxes, one of the ancient evils of the deep. Their dark-iron cities are mighty fortresses, choked by fiery spillage of grand forges, and from them pour warriors clad in ash–hued armour that blends like shadow into the granite greys and dark blacks of their homelands. Led by the chosen disciples of the elder wyrm, vampiric mutants blessed with dread powers, the Court of the Sunless King marches with a single, all-consuming purpose: to take back what they have lost, and to wreak vengeance upon those who abandoned them to the dark long ago…

Special Rules

Art of War: This model and its unit may move by up to 3” after shooting.

Breath Attack: Once per this model's activation, before attacking, roll one die. On a 2+ one enemy unit within 6” in line of sight takes 1 hit with Blast(3) and AP(1).

Elite Warrior: For each unmodified roll of 6 to hit in melee, this model may roll +1 attack with that weapon. This rule doesn’t apply to newly generated attacks.

Frightful Gaze: Once per this unit's activation, before attacking, pick one enemy unit within 12”, which gets -2 to its next morale test roll.

Heavy Shield: When units where all models have this rule take hits, those hits count as having AP(-1), to a min. of AP(0).

Lead the Charge: This model and its unit move +1” on Advance, and +2” on Rush/Charge.

Perfect Parry: Enemies get -1 to hit in melee when attacking units where all models have this rule.

Sharpshooter: Shoots at Quality 2+.

Takedown: Once per game, when this model attacks in melee, you may pick one model in the unit as its target, and make 1 attack at Quality 2+ with AP(1) and Deadly(3), which is resolved as if it's a unit of 1.

Undead: Whenever this unit fails a morale test, it counts as passed instead. Then, roll as many dice as remaining models/tough with this rule, and for each result of 1-2 the unit takes one wound, which can’t be ignored.

Shadow Strike (1): Target enemy unit within 12" takes 2 hits with AP(2).
Dark Hail (2): Target enemy unit within 12” takes 4 hits with AP(1).
Dripping Blades (2): Target 3 friendly units within 24" get Poison next time they fight in melee.
Atrophy (3): Target 2 enemy units within 6" get -2 to hit rolls next time they fight in melee.
Life Stealer (3): Target enemy unit within 18” takes 1 hit with Blast(9).
